May is a RIBA Chartered Architect with over 10 years’ experience as a faculty member in Architecture and Interior Design in various international universities, as well as expertise in Architecture and Environmental planning consultancies. She completed her Bachelor and Maters Degree in Architecture and Environmental Design from Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST) with RIBA Part 1 and 2.  She is a 6+ chartered Architect from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) as well as member of the UAE society of Engineers.

May’s main objective is to sustain the teaching towards a clear articulation and development of knowledge she gained during her research and academic career. Her framework methodology in teaching mainly focusses on including design cognition and visual learning pedagogies and tools to develop students with learning differences and international students. She aims to provide exceptional learning environment by supporting and engaging students in various design solving, critical thinking, research fields and trying to increase students core values, expressive work, and creativity.

May is currently a faculty member in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities in the Interior Design Programme and Architecture Programme at De Montfort university Dubai.

 

Research interests - Sustainable Design, Energy Efficiency in buildings, design education, design process, visual learning pedagogies, community led design, environmental design, thermal comfort in the built environment as well as curriculum design and development.
